Sunrise Telecom - ROADM testing

The ROADM analyzer is part of Sunrise Telecom’s Scalable Testing Toolkit (STT) family. Unlike other ROADM test systems, the STT xWDM is astonishingly fast, allowing you to thoroughly test 40 wavelengths in just 8 minutes, vs. hours from other manufacturers. Plus, the STT xWDM has the lowest insertion loss in the industry – 4dB loss in signal compared to 7 dB with others – and higher BERT sensitivity. That means you can run BER tests without the added cost or complexity of an amplifier.

If you’d like to see our ROADM analyzer in action and learn more about it, why not head to this year’s CommTech show in Kelowna, May 14th and 15th. David Chan, from Sunrise Telecom, will share his expertise in his ROADM seminar.

Rob’s Techie Tip

Do you have an OCx that seems to lag on keystrokes and sometimes freezes???

If this OCx is equipped with an ATA storage card in the secondary SW slot on the top back of the machine, this card could have corrupt data and it’s a super easy fix!!

1) Make sure that you have all the test results retrieved from the meter because when you finish this procedure, the card will be clear!!
2) With the meter powered off, remove the ATA card from the outside PCMCIA port on the testset.
3) Place the ATA card in a PCMCIA slot on a laptop
4) Let the PC / operating system load this card as a drive on the laptop.
5) Open “my computer” on the PC and you should see this drive as a new drive letter (if you open or explore you will see two different formats of the saved record, both .bin and text)
6) From my computer you will now right click on the PCMCIA drive and format the card, keeping the same “FAT” format.
7) With the meter still powered off, reinsert the ATA card in the outside PCMCIA slot.
8) Power up and voila…you are ready to go and there is a pretty good chance that your lag / freeze issues will be a thing of the past!!

Please always remember, should you have any troubles whatsoever with your Sunset meters, please give us a call. Our goal is to ensure that the Sunset meters that you own are as effective as possible for your telecom testing.
